Wish for the good start of the work by the Chief Rabbi of Modena Benjamin Goldstein |
Rav Beniamino Goldstein Modena |
In contemporary society, the world of education has moved from being a world marked by an imprint humanist, who cultivated the person and his knowledge (mainly those considered in today's world "useless") to one in which dominates a technical and technological vision of human knowledge, that places more importance on what the man "works" than on what the man knows and is.
Another feature of this new way of educating is that everything has to be measurable, and therefore also the human knowledge and the man himself are measured according to their functionality. The traditional Jewish method of education and pointed tip today to education addressed to a knowledge of itself (even of things deemed "useless" to the present day) and less immediate functionality or technical capability. "Educate the child according to the way that best suits him, even when he is old does not allonterà from" Proverbs XXII, 6 This is called Solomon reflects Jewish thought on this issue. A system that tends to measure everything on the basis of exact criteria, scientific encounter difficulties when will face cases like those of people with ASD, because they are different in their abilities and are difficult to measure with the "normal" parameters. But when you see all aspects of a personality and its human wealth although this is difficult measurability with normal parameters, here in front of us a smart person and great potential, which we will try to learn more. Views with this view, people with ASD are people with great although different capacities that is in everyone's interest to know and understand. I wish you all a good and fruitful work on this issue!
